It goes without saying that Colin and Jonathan are great instructors. I grab my guitar as time allows (At least 1/2 hour daily but most of the time longer) and I have realized that it takes time as well as understanding. But all the time is good. Knowing the guitar and how to play are more than just hands on which is why I have come to respect ‘Guitar Theory’. The classroom is always needed.
I have purchased Strumming & Improvising lessons from Colin. And the Scales Patterns, I IV V, and Barre Chord lessons from Jonathan. I have been working through them all. I can feel them coming into place (Rome wasn’t built . . .) But I will say that now that I have a better understanding of Strumming, I also have a better understanding of what bars are, 1e+a etc. So now the songs are making more sense. Kinda like a light turning on . . .
I have and will always recommend both Colin and Jonathan’s lesson’s to all who can appreciate clear, step by step lessons, both written and verbal, from those who have clearly shown an appreciation for the instrument. Keep the lessons coming! Thanks to both of you.
I just wanted to think you for the excellent Strumming Course.
I have had some problem with understand how to strum, and this a cleared up a lot of my problems.
You know when I first opened the Blues R&R course, after the first lesson I thought yep okay, but tell me something new. However, having progressed through the rest I quickly realized how much I did not know!
In short, a great course for anyone who thinks they know it or even those who do know it and want to refresh their memory adding more spice to their playing. There are a lot of useful tips and different angles to approach and improve anyone’s guitar playing.
Well done sir, good job.
I have always struggled with the scales & have always wanted to play lead & solos. I have some of your lessons now & can definitely see a difference. I am definitely having more fun doing it now. I was pretty discouraged before for quite awhile. I am doing much better now thanks to your great lessons.
Hi Colin, The Ultimate Blues Course: Stage 1 – Chords is amazing & has definitely made me a better player.
I’m an intermediate & kind of stuck. I have some of your other lessons & have benefited from them all. Sometimes not enough time. I play golf, fish, woodwork, & even make guitars but I love playing the guitar. You are a great teacher & your music professor you talked about taught you very well.
About my playing before I got your lesson – I was frustrated, discouraged, stuck but now am kind of re-energized & really want to learn. When can we expect the stage 2-Scales?
I enjoyed the course, how it shows different strumming and rhythm patterns. In that case I have improved. Although I still struggle with how to count out the tempo and which strum pattern should be used. Maybe this will come with time, or you can go more into depth on these subjects. Not all songs I struggle with, I think its more the tempo thing than anything else. All in all its been a good experience thxs, Mike
Comprehensive, but not a course you can finish in a few days. This one takes time to work through & digest. So far so good, I believe I am improving!!
Yee Haw! I am strumming all the patterns you gave us in this lesson and doing fairly smooth chord changes. This is the first time in my crummy “I wanna play guitar” career I actually feel like I’m playing. This is so cool. Thank you thank you thank you.
The music diagrams were very helpful to practice by. I am even using a metronome and holding on at 100bpm. Since I am rhythm challenged, all these things working together are helping me. Did I say thank you? Thank you!
I only started playing a few years ago at 46 and had wasted so much time trying to find the right online course and going off on U tube tangents before I stumbled across Riff Ninja.
The Ultimate Blues course has been the single biggest transformation in my journey to becoming a better guitar player.
Colin’s easy teaching style and commitment to making sure his online students “get it” is perfect for me. I thought scales were way beyond me, but the way Colin teaches it they’re not at all hard to understand.
I am hanging out for parts 3 and 4 of the blues course now and will be the first to purchase as soon as they are available.
Colin disproves a lot of the wrong messages I had been getting from the internet, and I simply refuse to watch any other online teacher after watching his course as I don’t want to waste any more time with wrong or confusing mixed messages.
This blues course is simply the best decision you can possibly invest in. You won’t regret it.
Thanks Colin for putting such effort into this with both the quality of the production and the carefully constructed content.
Colin, your persona on this DVD is that of a very serious teacher with a very good SENSE OF HUMOR. You are very direct with your ideas and very understandable with your directions ‘Practice Practice Practice’ BUT have fun doing so.
I am having a lot of fun. Your strum patterns are terrific and very helpful and as they say timing is everything but location helps a lot also. Your DVD is chock full of guitar info and is too much to talk about here, just let me say “Thank You” for giving me a very clear path to follow and well explained instructions to keep me moving forward.
And I will ‘Keep on Strummin’
